Definition of DevOps

The word devOps consists of two words “development” and “operations”. The term devOps is basically meant to be a set of tools and practices which are used to integrate software development and software operation in order to complete work fast and reliably.

History of DevOps

In 2008, the concept of devOps was firstly introduced in Agile Toronto conference. Different aspects of devOps were presented by Andrew Shafer and Patrick Debois. The concept of devOps was invented when Information technology experts and software management teams find difficulty in proper functioning of work. This problem compelled them to sit together and find out a better way in order to work more efficiently. Later on, the researchers have invented the upgraded and modified forms of devOps. Few of them are OpsDev, WinOps, DevSecOps and BizDevOps.

Mechanism of DevOps

DevOps is very simple method which is used to perform complex tasks more comfortably, efficiently, reliably and free of mistakes. To understand the mechanism of DeVops it is important to understand each and every step of DeVops. There are following steps included in working of devOps,

1-Plan: It is the main idea to make software.

2- Code: It is apparent from the name that in this section coding management is performed

3-Build: In this step integration tools are used to build status

4-Test: Testing is done with the help of testing tools to find out business risks.

5-Release: This part includes releasing of approvals and automation.

6-Configuration: Infrastructure configuration and management is performed

7-Monitor: The functioning of applications is supervised to improve the quality of work.

DevOps is very beneficial and useful application which boosts up your business and pace of working. It has ability to resolve any problem in short time. It is also advantageous in continuous software consignment. It has capability to manage the complexities and complications during work progress. It will not only save your time of fixing the problems but it will also provide you more leisure time to innovate. It will enhance your working skills and quality. Disadvantages of DevOps

Everything has positive and negative side as well. Similarly, DevOps also has some limitations. DevOps needs more exploration to improve the working quality of devOps. If you have few releases in a year or speed of working is not important in your work then devOps would be too expensive and complex to apply it in your work because devOps experts are costly to hire. As DevOps is not only the set of practices but it will also require high technologies with more efficient system of networks. Security risks from unknown servers are also negligible. It is difficult to maintain legacy apps.

Obviously, DevOps is one of the biggest innovations of century in computer science department because it has revolutionized the principles of working in operation and development of software. But it is also very important to overcome the drawbacks and deficiencies which are hurdles in way of exploration and implementation in all fields of computer science. It is requirement of time that we should devise a feedback mechanism and working analysis in order to improve the management of multi cloud applications. There should be more safe mechanism to retrieve the security risks in DevOPs.
